Hold Your Own Food Drive
Be a hunger hero! You can make a difference by holding a food drive to help stock our shelves. Food drives are extremely important to the pantry and the people we serve. Hunger heroes come in all shapes and sizes: individuals, organizations, civic groups, churches, schools…any one person or group can step up to the challenge! We are eager to work with you and will assist you every step of the way. Please follow this simple guide to get started:
1. Contact Oaks Integrated Care
Our Community Development Officer will help you through the planning process and answer any questions you might have. You can reach us at 609-267-5928.
2. Ask for Support!
Recruit friends, family and co-workers to help.
3. Pick a start date and collection time frame.
ANY time is the right time to hold a food drive. Select a start date that gives you sufficient time to plan.
4. Set a goal!
People love a challenge. Aim for a certain number of items or boxes of food you would like to collect. Don’t be afraid to think big!
5. Plan Collection Details
Think about how you want to collect the food. Make sure your collection location is easily accessible and visible in a high traffic area! Oaks Integrated Care can supply you with collection boxes or feel free to use your own containers. Depending on the size of your food drive, you might want to designate multiple collection sites.
6. Get Creative!
Make it fun. Some great ideas to get you started:
- Hold a contest – everyone loves a little friendly competition.
- Choose a memorable name or theme,
- Organize an event and make a food item the admission price.
- Hold a casual dress day for employees who decide to donate.
7. Promote, Promote, Promote!
Promote your food drive in every way possible including: emails, social media sites, newsletters, word of mouth, posters, fliers, company website, etc. Oaks Integrated Care can provide you with our logo, fliers, posters and even email templates.
8. Deliver the food or schedule a pick-up.
If you decide to drop off the food we would love to give you a tour of the pantry. Too much food to handle? We can also come out to your location and pick up the food in our van. Be prepared for the paparazzi — we will bring a camera and/or video camera to capture the moment! Call or email our Community Development Officer to schedule a drop-off or pick-up time.
9. Enjoy your success!
We appreciate your generosity and thank you for your hard work.
