What to Expect
If you are directed to a Crisis Screening Center, please take the following 4 steps to help us make your visit run as smoothly as possible.
Possible Assessment Outcomes
- Discharge with a connection to a community provider
- Hospitalization for further stabilization:
Voluntary– Submit to hospitalization by personal choice.
Involuntary– As outlined under New Jersey law, you may be hospitalized without your consent if you or your loved one is found to be mentally ill and a danger to oneself, others or property.
Access to a hospital bed depends on availability. You may not be permitted to leave the Screening Center during the process which may take hours or sometimes days to complete. Once the hospital bed is secure, law requires you to be transported to that facility by ambulance.
