As all of us maneuver our way through the enormous amount of information related to COVID-19, one thing is certain- this is a global crisis that challenges us to take care of ourselves, loved ones and the children, adults and families who count on us for services.

Oaks continues to stay on the front lines providing essential services to the most vulnerable members of our community while keeping safety as our highest priority. We are incredibly grateful to our employees for rising to the challenge and going above and beyond to carry out our mission. As a team, we understand that our mission is more important now than ever.

To highlight the incredible efforts, stamina and commitment of our employees over the last several weeks, one of our Directors pulled together a list of successes to share with her amazing team:

A note from Laurie Brett-D’Costa, LPC, Director of Mercer County Supportive Housing and CABHI:

I just wanted to thank you for being such a wonderful team and give a shout out to all the successes. You rocked it this week!

  • One client was housed!
  • Around 40 clients got food bags this week!
  • 213 clients were supported and checked on numerous times this week.
  • 11 clients received phones so we could remain in contact with them.
  • You jumped in as a team and covered each other’s clients.
  • You attended 10 conference calls and were patient with me.
  • Clients were concerned about doctor’s appointments and you all worked hard to get them connected via phone, etc.
  • You calmed clients’ fears during this difficult time through your care and concern.
  • Families were able to get food from the schools and their children’s schoolwork.
  • You made sure families who needed diapers and toilet paper got them.

YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE this week!

This is just one example of a program adjusting to a new working environment and collaborating with one another to help those we serve. Please remember that while this is a scary time, we are all in this together.
