Donation Drive Gives Youth the Confidence to Succeed
Mount Holly, NJ, July 19, 2023- Every child deserves a great first day of school. Now through August 11, Oaks Integrated Care is accepting donations of backpacks and school supplies for Operation Fill-A-Backpack, an annual program designed to provide children and teens with the confidence needed to succeed this September.
Many parents of children in Oaks Integrated Care programs lack the financial stability to provide their children with basic school supplies. Each gift to Operation Fill-A-Backpack decreases the burden on families and helps students receive the tools necessary to start the school year off on the right foot.
With the help of supporters, Oaks will collect, purchase and distribute over 1,000 backpacks stuffed with pencils, notebooks, folders and more to children and teens in Oaks’ programs throughout New Jersey. Community members are invited to show their support by dropping off new backpacks and school supplies at an Oaks Food Pantry, making a monetary donation, or even holding their own donation drive with family, friends, co-workers or community groups.
In addition, the nonprofit will distribute over 300 stuffed backpacks to youth at their annual Touch A Truck event in Camden, New Jersey on August 26, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Touch A Truck gives kids the chance to see, touch and explore their favorite vehicles in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Entry to the event is free and food is available for purchase.
Oaks Integrated Care CEO, Derry Holland explains, “School supplies are fundamental to ensuring students thrive in the classroom. As students prepare for the upcoming year, Oaks remains dedicated to supporting the needs of today’s youth.” Holland adds, “Each contribution to Operation Fill-A-Backpack makes a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve each day. We appreciate any size gift to help support our most vulnerable community members.”
